Early Blooming Cherry Blossoms

The cherry blossom season in Japan is generally from late March to early April. However, the cherry blossoms in Kawazu town begin blooming in early February and are in full bloom from late February to early March. The reason for the early bloom is due to Izu’s mild climate and crossbreeding with cherry species from southern China or Taiwan. In this article, I would like to introduce a trip to Kawazu during the cherry blossom season. The BLOG photo was taken on February 27, 2023.
Kawazu Town is located southeast of the Izu Peninsula. During this season, the town is overflowing with tourists. Their goal is to see the 850 cherry blossom trees that bloom along both banks of the Kawazu River.
I walked along the river and the cherry blossoms were beautiful. There are sights here that you will never regret coming to. If you are coming to Japan in February, I strongly recommend Kawazu town. I hope you will enjoy the early spring in Japan.

Kawazu-cho Cherry Blossom Festival

In 2023, the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival was held from February 1 to February 28. Cherry blossoms are illuminated at night during the festival. There will also be food stalls where you can enjoy beer and delicious food while viewing the cherry blossoms. In short, you can enjoy Hanami!
